Pamela does a superior job of re-telling Jane Austens Pride and Prejudice. This book cleverly and creatively gives an account of events from Mr. Darcys perspective. The dialogue and story flow seamlessly -- Im constantly amazed that its being written by a modern day author. Her research, knowledge, and passion for the time period are obvious by the detail she includes in the story. Its an incredible book. I cant wait for the second volume to be published.
Most of the Pride and Prejudice sequels or adaptations are pale imitations that Austen fans read desperately looking for the same emotional response as they get from the original. As a self-professed PandP junkie, Pamela Aidans book gave me the same thrill I got when reading Pride and Prejudice for the first time. (Those among you who are fellow junkies will understand what a statement this is.) She is true to Jane Austens sensibilities, while injecting her own wit and humor. I wait impatiently for the next two installments and hope Pamela doesnt stop there.
