My first college class required this and it is the only book that I have kept. I use it in every class that I have to write a paper in. My wife also uses it for her classes. I recommend this for any student.
This is an excellent book to help a student with essays and proper ways to format them.
I disagree with the reviewer who said this was "for starters only." I think this book is JUST as good as the bigger volumes (A Writers Reference, Bedford Handbook), only without all of the extra padding. This book has the essentials, and its still very thorough and very complete. Its much easier to navigate since you dont have to wade through 200 pages of filler to find what you need. Its much cheaper, and equally useful. Good stuff for research, documentation, and style. Overall, this is the book I would go with (er...with which I would go?).
